Precoating
Precoating is the application of a thin anodic layer. These layers are used as conversion layers for powder coating and/or painting. Precoating is also used as a protective layer for further mechanical operations (e.g. sawing). Due to the protective nature of the anodic layer, there is less risk of damaging the workpiece during transport or further processing. After completion of the (mechanical) machining, the layer can be selectively deanodised in order to then anodise the workpiece as a whole.
