Clear anodising

Clear anodising, also called normal or standard anodising, is the most commonly used form of anodising. The natural oxide layer, always present on aluminium, is thickened up to 25µm using direct current. For thicker layer thicknesses, hard anodising is used. In principle, the clear anodic layer is transparent, but this partly depends on the aluminium alloy used and the thickness of the layer.

Applications of bright anodising

Due to the possibility of colours, normal anodised products are widely used in the decorative industry. But due to excellent scratch and closure resistance, there are also numerous functional applications, both for coloured and uncoloured products. Some examples:

  • Machinery construction (high and low end)

  • Automotive

  • Architecture

  • Shipbuilding

  • Electronics (insulation layer)
